Selectboard Meeting Minutes
Monday, August 19, 2019

Members Present:Diane Benware, Brad Lawes, Tom Barker, Ron Fiske

Others Present:  Julie Delphia, Arlan Pidgeon, Sandra Trombley, Secretary
 
Call to Order:  Meeting called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair.

Review of Agenda:
 
Approval of August 5, 2019 minutes:
 
Motion by Tom, second by Brad, to approve minutes of August 5, 2019 as written.  All in favor.  So, approved.
 
Review/Authorization to Pay Bills:
 
Julie brought up the paving bills.  She will need to borrow the money because she doesn’t have taxes yet.
 
Motion by Brad and second by Tom to pay D&F paving bills by the end of next week.  First 100,000 borrowed and balance from the Reserve Fund. All in favor.  So, approved.
 
Motion by Brad, second by Tom, authorizing Julie to pay the bills.  All in favor. So, approved.
 
Reports from Town Officials, Committees:
 
Road Foreman:
 
Arlan reported that the paving is done.  500’ on Rte. 53 from Forest Dale line back, Maple Run Road and Ferson Road.  Arlan is pleased with the work.
 
Arlan had a little trouble with the loader. Reggie got him going.
 
Tom reported that people have been down by bridge on Old Jerusalem Road for two weeks searching for artifacts.
 
Town Clerk/Treasurer:
 
Julie reported she received a salt contract from American Rock Salt but none from Cargill.  
 
Tom stated that until the State solidifies their price, they should wait.
 
Julie reported that tax bills will be going out this week.
 
Julie sent in paperwork today for the FEMA Grant and sent in paperwork for the Hydro Geologically Connected Grant.

CORRESPONDENCE:
 
Diane read Vermont Sun’s annual letter for the 2020 Race.  Their race dates are June 27, July 19, and August 16, 2020 at Branbury State Park. 
 
Last year they used Hunter North instead of the Sheriff’s Department.  There was discussion of many complaints.  
 
Diane will respond to their letter with usual concerns.

Old Jerusalem Road Culvert:
 
Diane read Jim Carroll’s summary response.  Jim believes the document is ready to sign. His requests for revisions have been made.
 
Diane reported the intent is to have board members review and be prepared to sign the document at their next meeting.
