Selectboard Meeting Minutes

Members Present:  Diane Benware, Ron Fiske, Tom Barker, Bob Oliver, Ken Young

 

Others Present:   Julie Delphia, Arlan Pidgeon, Sandra Trombley, Secretary

 

Call to Order:  Meeting called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. 

 

Review of Agenda:  Agenda reviewed. 

 

Approval of Minutes of September 7, 2010 & September 13, 2010:

 

Motion by Bob to approve minutes of September 7, 2010 with correction to add the word “restricted” in motion to read,  to authorize Treasurer to pay McKernon’s out of the restricted building repair funds.  Second by Ken.  All in favor.  So approved.

 

Motion by Bob to approve minutes of September 13, 2010 as written.  Second by Ken.  All in favor.  So approved.

 

Review/Authorize Payment of Bills:  Bills making their rounds for signatures.  Tom asked for clarification on the roadside mowing invoice.

 

Weight Permits:  None

 

Reports from Town Officials, Committees:

 

Town Clerk/Treasurer:

 

Julie reported delinquents are at $43,900.  She will be paying off the loan in the next bill cycle and start paying the schools.

 

Motion by Tom to authorize Treasurer to pay schools as deemed necessary for tax purposes.  Second by Bob.  All in favor.  So approved.

 

Julie scheduled an abatement meeting for next Wednesday, September 29, 2010 from 6:30 – 7:00.  She will send out notices.

 

Bethany has covered the office while Julie has been at trainings

 

Road Foreman:

 

Arlan reported he has been hauling winter sand and Scott has done some grading. 

 

Continued discussion about the grader.

 

Cemetery Committee:    No report

 

Listers:

 

Julie reported that the reappraisal firm is coming Thursday to meet with the Listers.

 

Listers’ Errors and Omissions:

 

The Selectboard signed a Listers’ Errors & Omissions Certificate for the Bridgmon property.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

Salisbury Board Invitation to Town Officials:

 

Tom reported that the Salisbury Board extends an invitation to town officials to come to a Conflict of Interest Training tomorrow sponsored by VLCT at 7:00 p.m., Salisbury Town Office.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

 

Road Issues:

 

Arlan reported he is done on Isthmus Road.

 

Scott has done some grading and more grading needs to be done.  Two culverts are on the list.

 

Meeting House Steps:

 

Bob let Peter know McKernon’s got the bid. 

 

Dog Issues:

 

Discussion of dog issues on Delorm Road.  Julie hasn’t heard any more.  Resident on Old Jerusalem Road was bitten.  No more has been heard.

 

Kim Schroeder has offered to fill in for Brian Webb in his absence. 

 

Limited Public Opinion:  None

 

Other:

 

The brook on Ferson Road is backed up again due to beavers.

 

Motion by Ken to authorize Arlan to contact Kurt Kimball about trapping the beaver.  Second by Bob.  All in favor.  So approved.

 

Next meeting, Tuesday, October 4, 2010.
