Members Present: Diane Benware, Diane Randall, Brad Lawes, Tom Barker, John Rouse
Others Present: Julie Delphia, Arlan Pidgeon, Rob Devoid
Call to Order: Meeting called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair.
Pledge of Allegiance:
Review of Agenda: Add Tax Map Contract
Approval of Jan 19 and 22 minutes:
Motion by Tom and second by John to approve minutes as written. Brad abstained, motion approved.
Review/Authorization to Pay Bills:
Motion by Tom and second by Diane R, authorizing Julie to pay the bills. All in favor. So, approved.
Reports from Town Officials, Committees:
Road Foreman:
Arlan, in response to Brad’s question, indicated we are all right as far as salt is concerned. Scott has called and a truck will be coming with more. Cost will be $20-25 more per ton, due to trucking costs.
Tom brought up issue of frost heave on Jerusalem Road, by Oliver’s. Arlan will put up warning signs alerting drivers to the heaves ahead on the road.
Town Clerk/Treasurer:
Julie reported paving grant cycle is now open, with deadline of April 15. Arlan will consider road situation and report to Board by end of the month. It is possible that we may re-submit last year’s request.
Julie circulated the tax map contract for signatures. Similar to the previous. Board signed contract.
Julie circulated brochure about radar signs. The purchase of four for $1,250 is cheaper than two for $6,899. It is possible that Brandon might want to purchase two and, if we did, the cost would be reduced. Several towns have indicated that the use of the signs has resulted in reduced speeding.
Julie and Diane shared their concerns about action taken at the last several OVUUD board meetings.
Julie read a message she would like to post on FPF on behalf of the board, urging readers to attend the annual meeting on Feb 25. An article authorizing the school board to explore a middle school multi-million dollar expansion (advisory article, non-binding) was stricken from the proposed meeting Warning, and will be discussed under “Other Business”. Given that 85% of one’s tax bill is for education costs, tax payers need to be aware of this pending action. Board gave its approval for Julie to post the information and to circulate to neighboring towns.
Animal Control Officer:
Rob reported the animal scene has been very quiet. He reminded the board that we should notify Homeward Bound that we are in agreement with the $75.00 fee for animals brought to the shelter.
Weight Permits: No weight permits.
CORRESPONDENCE:
· Vt Conservation Plan Listening Session, March 9
· ACEDC newsletter
· Request to discuss that Vt tax social media corporations to fund regional print journalism
· Public Comment period for proposed changes to Vermont Uses of Public Water Rules and Wakesport Regulations
OLD BUSINESS:
Vermont Sun Races: Chair reported on her conversations with Lt Neil Cary, of VSP and town counsel. Chair circulated the latest version of the draft of the road permit for Vt Sun. Document was reviewed and three edits were proposed, dealing with sanitation measures and emergency services.
Chair will review with town counsel, and with his approval, document will be forwarded to Vt Sun.
Board confirmed that if Mr Hare requests a meeting, it will be conducted during a regularly scheduled
Selectboard meeting.
EXECUTIVE SESSION: None
Motion by Brad and second by John to adjourn at 7:37 p.m.
Next Meeting Monday, Feb 16, 2026
Respectfully submitted,
Diane Benware
