SPECIAL SELECTBOARD MEETING

Others:  Andrew Petersen, Bob Miller, John Hughes, Mary Hughes, Donna Pidgeon, Arlan Pidgeon

Meeting called to order at 7:02 p.m. by the Chair.
Flag salute recited and agenda reviewed.

PUBLIC OPINION:
Donna reported that Steve Eastman has requested that Arlan get together with John and Bob to address the issue of the culvert near his house on Shackett Road that he wants moved.

ACTION:   Arlan will check it out with Bob and John.

TAX EXEMPTION FOR 50%+ DISABLED VETERANS
Bob Miller several months ago had requested an increase to the current $10,000 exemption on his behalf and that of 4 other individuals/families in town.
ACTION:  Bob Oliver made the motion to put before the voters in March, seeking voter approval to increase the tax exemption from the current $10,000 to $30,000 for eligible 50&+ disabled veterans in town,  to be effective for the 2008 tax bills. (According to 32 VSA 3802 (11) Tom made the second to the motion, which passed unanimously.

The revenue lost from the granting of this exemption must be made up in the form of an amount (dependent on the amount of the exemption) added to the tax bills.

MEETING WITH ZONING ADMINISTRATOR CANDIDATE

Chair introduced Andrew Petersen, candidate for Zoning Administrator.

EXECUTIVE SESSION
Tom made the motion to go into Executive Session at 7:25 p.m., for the purpose of interviewing Andrew for the position of Zoning Administrator, second by Diane.  Motion passed unanimously.

Motion at 8:00 p.m. to come out of Executive Session made by Tom, second by Bob, passed unanimously.

ACTION:  Motion by Tom to hire Andrew Petersen as Leicester Zoning Administrator, at $15.00 per hour, door to door, effective immediately.  Motion passed unanimously.  We concur on giving Andrew a key to the building.
