Selectboard Meeting Minutes

Members Present:  Diane Benware, Brad Lawes, John Rouse, Tom Barker, Ron Fiske
 
Others Present:  Arlan Pidgeon, Sandra Trombley, Secretary                                                                                 
 
Call to Order:  Meeting called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair. 
 
Pledge of Allegiance:
 
Review of Agenda:  Added BLSG Discussion and roadside brush.
 
Approval of May 21, 2018 minutes:
 
Motion by Tom and second by Ron to approve minutes of May 21, 2018 as written.  3 – yes and 2 abstentions.  So, approved.
 
Review/Authorization to Pay Bills:
 
Motion by John and second by Brad authorizing Julie to pay bills.  All in favor.  So, approved.
 
Reports from Town Officials, Committees:
 
Town Clerk/Treasurer:
 
No report from Julie.
 
Road Foreman:
 
Arlan did not have anything to report.
 
Diane asked if Arlan and Brad talked about the request from Mark Stacey to sweep sand.  Arlan stated he has no equipment at this time to sweep it with.  
 
Tom mentioned the status of the fence over by John’s.  It is all broken and laying over.  
 
John will pick it up and return the signs to Arlan.
 
Weight Permits:  None
 
CORRESPONDENCE:
 
Julie left a handwritten note from Calvin Loven. He would like to take the cedar tree out by the bike rack.  It is half dead.  He is willing to cut it down, stump it, haul it away, and reseed for $475.
 
Arlan will check the tree out and thinks he can take care of it.
 
NEW BUSINESS:
 
December 2019 Grants in Aid Application:
 
Diane and Arlan have an extension to July 13 for the 2018 Grants in Aid to do the Mountain View south area.  There are lots of trees to cut.  
 
If they get it done by July 13thand submit the paperwork, they will get the $5,000 from the grant.
 
The next round, fiscal year 2019 Grants in Aid is coming out now and must be applied for by June 22nd.  
 
Chair signed, on behalf of the Board, the letter of intent to participate. 
 
Roadside Brush:
 
Ron reported the roadside brush going west past Roger Scarborough’s headed to the Junction on Leicester/Whiting Road.  It is out in the road on the right-hand side of the road. 
 
Tom mentioned the covered stop sign at the intersection, and coming from Swinington Hill there is a sign you can’t see and north of Bonnie Johnson’s; there is one covered by brush.
 
Arlan will take care of clearing the brush at the intersection stop sign and around the other signs.  
 
Arlan will take care of the brush on Leicester/Whiting Road later when he has time.
 
OLD BUSINESS:
 
BLSG:
 
Brad reported that BLSG called an emergency meeting this Thursday.  They are out of money until July 1st.  They are trying to get some of the legislators involved.  They have a meeting with Cornwall on June 15th

Town Shed:
 
Brad is going to call the roofer.
