Selectboard Meeting Minutes
Monday, November 19, 2018

Members Present:Diane Benware, Tom Barker, Ron Fiske
 
Members Absent:  John Rouse, Brad Lawes

Call to Order:  Meeting called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair. 
 
Pledge of Allegiance:
 
Review of Agenda 
 
Approval of November 5, 2018 minutes:
 
Motion by Tom and second by Ron to approve minutes of November 5, 2018 as written.  All in favor.  So, approved.
 
Review/Authorization to Pay Bills:
 
Motion by Tom and second by Ron authorizing Julie to pay the bills.  All in favor.  So, approved.
 
Reports from Town Officials, Committees:
 
Road Foreman:
 
Arlan asked what they wanted to do with the old oil tanks over in the garage.  He will take care of them.
 
Arlan went up and looked at plows.  He will keep Board posted.
 
Arlan will coordinate with Diane on completing more inventory.
 
Arlan mentioned that they should be looking for a loader.  Their loader has been a very good machine.  Arlan and Scott will continue to look for a good used loader.  
 
Town Clerk/Treasurer:
 
Julie reported that the election went well; with 399 voters.  There is a recount for a 10-vote difference.  The ballots are up at the Court House waiting for the recount the Monday after Thanksgiving.
 
Taxes are collected and there is $85,000 delinquent for 2018.
 
Julie hasn’t had time to get locks for the white building.  She is getting the side door, the back door and the ramp door the same.
 
 
CORRESPONDENCE:
 
Diane reported that at the public portion of the Addison County Regional Planning meeting, there was a tree and bug person that came to speak about the Emerald Ash Borer.  Thus far, it is not reported in Addison County, but it has been reported in Bennington and Windham counties and a spot in Grand Isle.
 
They made a recommendation that a tree warden or warden can designate a person, to check any public land and roadsides, to see if there are any ash trees or any signs of the bug.
 
There was an invitation to participate in the setting of the Addison County Budget on Thursday, December 6that 9:00 a.m. at the Court House.

Filling the Zoning Administrator Position:
 
There was a gentleman from Cornwall who had called and expressed interest in the position.  Diane  returned the call three times and left messages, but she has not heard back from him.
 
Diane will be acting Administrator until we have the position filled.  
 
Tom recommends they continue to run in one more edition of the newspaper and the Front Porch Forum.
 
If anyone shows an interest before it goes to print, they will hold off putting it in the paper.

Maintenance Needs:
 
Ron had not been able to take pictures of the windows.   He will take pictures as soon as he is available.
 
Diane stated it would be good to be able to do a three-year plan.
 
Decisions need to be made as to what is the most urgent need.
